UK Mortgage Advisers & Brokers for Expats in Malaysia

UK mortgages for expats living in Malaysia

Based in Kuala Lumpur or elsewhere in Malaysia and considering UK property? We are specialist UK mortgage advisers and brokers helping Malaysia residents buy, remortgage and refinance in the UK.

  • Income in ringgit (MYR) considered
  • Purchases, remortgages and buy-to-let
  • Handled remotely in your time zone

Why expats in Malaysia use a specialist broker

Many UK high street lenders decline applicants living overseas or offer them only limited products. We search the wider market, including specialist and private banks, to find lenders that accept residents of Malaysia.

Ringgit income accepted by selected lenders

A smaller number of UK lenders accept income paid in ringgit, so knowing which ones will consider you is the key first step.

Energy, finance and professional roles

Many expats in Malaysia work in energy, finance, engineering and professional services. We understand the contracts and pay structures typical of these sectors.

Purchases, remortgages and buy-to-let

From buying a UK home or investment to refinancing a property you already own, we arrange it all remotely.

What we can help with

Buying a UK home or investment property, remortgaging to a better rate, releasing equity, switching a former home to buy-to-let, or buying through a UK limited company. All arranged remotely while you live in Malaysia.

UK mortgage questions from expats in Malaysia

Answers to the questions we are asked most often.

Can I get a UK mortgage if I live in Malaysia?

Yes, although fewer lenders accept Malaysia residents than some other countries. A specialist broker helps you avoid lenders that will decline your country of residence or currency.

Will UK lenders accept income in ringgit?

Some specialist lenders do, often with an adjustment for exchange rate movements. Income paid in US dollars or sterling can widen the choice of lenders.

Can I remortgage my UK property from Malaysia?

Yes. You can remortgage to a better rate or release equity while living in Malaysia.

How much deposit will I need?

For expats and foreign nationals, lenders usually require a deposit of between 25% and 30% of the purchase price, depending on the lender, your residency, income and the type of property.
