UK mortgages for expats living in Saudi Arabia

Working in Riyadh, Jeddah or the Eastern Province and looking at UK property? We are specialist UK mortgage advisers and brokers helping Saudi-based expats buy, remortgage and refinance in the UK.

  • Income in riyals (SAR) considered
  • Purchases, remortgages and buy-to-let
  • Handled remotely in your time zone

Why expats in Saudi Arabia use a specialist broker

Many UK high street lenders decline applicants living overseas or offer them only limited products. We search the wider market, including specialist and private banks, to find lenders that accept residents of Saudi Arabia.

Riyal income accepted

The Saudi riyal is pegged to the US dollar, and a number of UK lenders accept SAR income, sometimes with a small currency adjustment.

Project and contract roles understood

Many expats in Saudi Arabia work on large infrastructure, energy and development projects on fixed-term contracts. We know which lenders are comfortable with contract employment.

Tax-free packages presented properly

Employment income for expats in Saudi Arabia is generally not subject to personal income tax. We present your full package clearly to lenders.

What we can help with

Buying a UK home or investment property, remortgaging to a better rate, releasing equity, switching a former home to buy-to-let, or buying through a UK limited company. All arranged remotely while you live in Saudi Arabia.

UK mortgage questions from expats in Saudi Arabia

Answers to the questions we are asked most often.

Can I get a UK mortgage while working in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. A number of UK lenders accept applicants resident in Saudi Arabia. Lender appetite varies by country, so using a broker who knows which lenders accept Saudi residents saves time and declined applications.

I am on a fixed-term contract. Can I still borrow?

Often, yes. Some lenders want a minimum time in your current role or a track record of contract renewals. We match you to lenders whose criteria fit your contract.

Can I remortgage my UK home while living in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. You can remortgage to a better rate or release equity, and many expats also switch their former home to buy-to-let while they are away.

How much deposit will I need?

For expats and foreign nationals, lenders usually require a deposit of between 25% and 30% of the purchase price, depending on the lender, your residency, income and the type of property.
